User Profile

The Ficlet100 project is a little writing experiment where the unknowing victim is drowned in 100 different words or terms and is tasked with writing a short story, or ficlet, using those words or terms as titles or inspiration. The stories are anything goes - while they should revolve around a certain theme or character, the stories can deal with issues of adventure, mystery, romance, or can even be entirely alternative universes, dealing with scenarios that would not or could not occur within the realm of the characters.

In June of 2007, I finished 100 short stories revolving around my character, Samhuinn Blackhorn (now Runetotem), a meek tauren I play on Feathermoon server on Blizzard's World of Warcraft. After a few months hiatus, I decided to undertake another hundred more, destined to be one of the silliest decisions I've ever made.

This LiveJournal is an archive of dozens of characters who have influenced my character. The ficlets are generally mild, but do deal with issues of violence, mild profanity, sexuality, and sexual orientation that might make some people go "Eek!", others go "Ew!", and others go "omgwtf". Be forewarned!

091: Rain was written by excellent artist and IC lover extraordinare ravynwolf/ambershanks. 022: Haunted takes every other sentence from the bizarre but kind of fun anime Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni. 034: Memories starts off with lines from a favorite song of mine, Illume, by Fleetwood Mac. Everything else is property of the artist, Zachary Hubert/Samhuinn.

The ficlets are written in no direct chronological order. As the second hundred ficlets were written more than a year following the first, however, they have been exposed to more characters, more development, and more events, not the least of which was the uniting marriage of Ambershanks and Samhuinn Runetotem. As such, the "daily" ficlets in the second half of the project have a tendency to be slightly further chronologically. However, each ficlet is unique in its own timeline. It is also worth mentioning that many of the ficlets represent impossible or 'alternative' scenarios written for humorous or experimental purposes, and should not necessarily be taken as realistic occurances in the character's life.
